Intern (New York, NY)

The Norman Mailer Center and Writers Colony is seeking an energetic, friendly and hardworking intern to learn from and assist our administrative and fundraising offices in New York City. The intern will work closely with NMC staff as we prepare for our Annual Benefit Gala to be held in the fall of 2016. This event raises funds for our year-round literary programming, and celebrates the accomplished literary talents of today. (See our website for more information.)

Interns receive a stipend, the opportunity to attend literary events in New York City, and a priceless, hands-on introduction to the literary world and non-profit growth and management.

Responsibilities include administrative work (scanning, filing), making calls to supporters, tracking RSVPs, gift bag materials and more. You will also participate in the Center’s other projects as needed (such as other NYC literary or cultivation events, support for our Provincetown writers colony staff, etc. Note that this internship will focus mainly on the development aspects (fundraising, event planning, etc) of a non-profit, rather than directly handling the literary elements of our programming!

The ideal applicant has experience in administrative/office work and a strong interest in the non-profit sector.
